APT Anti Slip Tape is an adhesive-backed traction tape designed to add grip to stairs, steps, ramps and walking surfaces. Its textured surface helps improve footing where additional slip resistance is needed. Also called non-slip tape, anti-skid tape or traction tape, it can be cut into strips to suit the application. Choose a 2-inch × 20-foot or 4-inch × 33-foot roll.

Applications
- Stairs and steps: Add traction strips to suitable stair treads where extra grip is needed.
- Ramps and walkways: Add a textured contact surface to selected pedestrian areas.
- Ladder steps and equipment access: Evaluate adhesion and fit on the specific step surface before use.
Select the tape for the surface finish, expected foot traffic and environment. A secure bond and regular inspection are essential; tape does not eliminate every slip hazard.
Installation and surface preparation
Apply to a clean, dry, sound surface free of dust, grease and loose coatings. Cut the tape to the required size, round the corners where practical, peel back the liner and press firmly across the full strip, especially the edges. Do not bridge gaps or cover damaged surfaces. Confirm surface compatibility and application conditions with APT before installation.
For outdoor stairs, persistent moisture, porous concrete, textured substrates, barefoot areas or temperature extremes, contact APT to confirm suitability and any preparation requirements. Keep the surface clean and replace strips that become worn, damaged or loose.
Anti slip tape questions
What is anti-slip tape used for?
Anti-slip tape adds a textured traction surface to suitable stairs, steps, ramps and walking areas. It is also called non-slip tape, anti-skid tape or traction tape. Performance depends on the substrate, installation, contamination and wear.
Can this anti-slip tape be used on stairs?
Stairs and steps are intended applications. Check that the tread is sound, compatible with the adhesive and large enough for a securely bonded strip. Keep the tape fully supported and inspect the edges regularly.
Can this tape be used outdoors or in wet conditions?
Confirm the specific exposure with APT before selecting it for outdoor stairs or wet areas. Occasional splashes, standing water, immersion, freezing conditions and continuous weather exposure place different demands on the tape and adhesive. Do not assume that one moisture-resistance claim covers all of these conditions.
Which surfaces can anti-slip tape stick to?
Start with a clean, dry, stable substrate. Adhesion varies with material, texture and surface finish; the listed adhesion-to-steel value does not establish performance on wood, concrete, plastic or painted surfaces. Test a small area and ask APT about porous or uneven substrates before installation.
How do you apply anti-slip tape?
Clean and dry the surface, remove loose material and cut the tape to size. Round the corners where practical, remove the liner and press the entire strip firmly into place without bridging gaps. Ask APT for product-specific application temperature, bonding time and any primer requirements.
How do you clean anti-slip tape?
Remove loose dirt regularly. Test a mild cleaning method on a small area and avoid cleaners that damage the tape, adhesive or underlying finish. Avoid flooding or aggressive scrubbing at the edges. Inspect for wear and lifting after cleaning.
How do you remove anti-slip tape, and can it leave residue?
Lift an edge carefully and peel slowly, testing first on a small area. Adhesive residue or finish damage can occur depending on the substrate, age and exposure. If residue remains, use only a removal method compatible with the underlying surface; residue-free removal is not guaranteed.
Is this anti-slip tape suitable for barefoot use?
Do not assume that every textured traction tape is suitable for bare feet, showers or pool areas. Contact APT to confirm the surface texture and suitability for the intended use before ordering for a barefoot application.
How thick is the tape, and what sizes are available?
The listed total tape thickness is 30 mil, equal to 0.030 inch or 0.762 mm. Available roll sizes are 2 inches × 20 feet (APT-AS220) and 4 inches × 33 feet (APT-AS433).
