APT copper tape combines a copper backing with conductive acrylic adhesive for electronics, EMI shielding, guitar shielding and craft projects. Choose from eight widths, from 1/4 inch to 6 inches, in 108-foot rolls. The tape has a 1.4 mil copper backing and a total thickness of 2.8 mil.
Compare conductive and non-conductive copper tape adhesives to choose the right electrical path for your project.
Copper tape specifications
| Property | Listed value |
|---|---|
| Backing | Copper foil |
| Adhesive | Conductive acrylic |
| Backing thickness | 1.4 mil |
| Total thickness | 2.8 mil |
| Tensile strength | 25 lb/in |
| Adhesion to steel | 35 oz/in |
One mil equals 0.001 inch. Backing thickness measures the copper layer; total thickness includes the adhesive.

Product suitability may vary depending on application requirements.
Conductive adhesive and EMI shielding
Electrical contact may be needed along the foil, through the adhesive to a conductive substrate, or across overlapping strips. Check every path required by your design. Conductive adhesive alone does not establish a specified resistance, current rating or shielding-effectiveness rating for the finished assembly.
For EMI/RFI shielding, evaluate the substrate, surface preparation, seams, electrical contacts and operating conditions. Request supporting data for the exact tape and test method when a resistance or shielding target is required. This listing does not establish suitability as a replacement for wiring, damaged-cord repair or a specified protective-earth connection.
Read our conductive copper tape guide or explore our EMI shielding tape options.
Choose a copper foil tape width
Narrow strips suit small details and tight spaces. Wider strips can cover larger areas with fewer seams. Check the selected variant for current price and availability. For bulk orders, custom sizes or application questions, contact APT with your dimensions, substrate and performance requirements.

Copper tape questions
What is copper tape used for?
Copper adhesive tape is used in electronics and shielding projects, decorative borders, wall art and handmade cards. Application suitability depends on the tape, surface and required performance. Check specific requirements before using it for stained glass, soldering or electrical connections.
Is copper tape conductive?
The copper foil conducts electricity. Adhesive conductivity depends on the product; APT lists conductive acrylic adhesive for this tape. Verify the installed contacts and overlaps against your project's requirements.
Is copper tape conductive on both sides?
This tape has a copper face and a conductive acrylic adhesive layer. Conductivity through adhesive is different from having adhesive on both faces. Check the required electrical path through your installed joint.
How do you apply copper foil tape?
Use a clean, dry, compatible surface. Cut the strip to size and apply even pressure, especially at edges and overlaps. Follow application-specific preparation guidance and check the completed conductive paths before use.
Can you solder to copper tape?
Confirm compatibility with your soldering process before ordering. The listed specifications do not provide a soldering temperature or heat-exposure rating. Contact APT about the exact tape and intended process.
Does copper tape stop slugs and snails?
Copper tape is sometimes used as a garden barrier, but results vary. Do not rely on it as guaranteed protection against plant damage.
